Daily Mail
Visionary Company courses were founded by Peter in 2005 to reveal the spiritual agenda that underlies the work of our greatest poets.

Drawing on three decades of experience of teaching and writing poetry, Peter helps students to explore the practical, contemporary esoteric meaning of their reading.

Each course runs from 10:30 – 4:30, and enables a gradually intensifying illumination of the purposes and implications of the work under discussion.

In an open, relaxed atmosphere, everyone is invited (but not obliged) to contribute in a context of respect for all opinions. Prior knowledge of the texts is not essential, but copies are available in advance. Poems and materials are included in the course price.

So far Peter has devised nine courses:

  • SHAKESPEARE: The Quest for Selfhood
  • The Metaphysical Moment: the Poetry of John DONNE, George HERBERT and Henry VAUGHAN
  • MILTON: Paradise Lost – Our Inner Freedom
  • WORDSWORTH and COLERIDGE: The Transcendent Art
  • KEATS: The Vale of Soul-Making
  • HOPKINS: Immortal Diamond
  • LAWRENCE: This Ache for Being
  • ELIOT: From Prufrock to Four Quartets: “The heavy burden of the growing soul”
  • POETRY and the SOUL’S JOURNEY: An Exploration of Twentieth-Century Poetry
